Welcome
to the official site of the King Air Foundation. This site
is currently under construction, and we will be working earnestly
in the coming months to create a Web presence befitting of this
most important charitable aviation project.
King
Air LJ-1, the first King Air ever made, is being restorated to factory-new
condition for an historic around-the-world flight, to be flown by a number
of celebrity pilots in 2009. Following the restoration, King Air LJ-1 will
be flown to air shows, corporate events, aviation schools and flying clubs to
raise money for charities such as the Christopher Reeve Paralysis, St. Jude
Children's Research Hospital and the Progeria Research Foundation. On the 50th
anniversary of the King Air certification, May of 2014, King Air LJ-1 will be
donated to a prestigious American aviation museum.
King Air
Foundation Executive Director Alex Major has owned King Air LJ-1 since 1985
when his California aviation company purchased the aircraft for corporate
transport.
The
King Air Foundation is making application to become an organization exempt
from federal income tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code
of 1986, as amended. Once this exemption is approved, all donations to
the King Air Foundation will be tax deductible to the full extent of the law.
The officers and directors of the King Air Foundation and the names of the
celebrity pilots will be announced in the months to come.
We
hope that all will recognize and embrace the opportunity the King Air
Foundation provides to fullfil our mission of "Using Aviation to
Save and Improve
the Lives of Children in Need".
